The estimate connects damaged areas with the operations proposed. Repair or replacement, trim removal, refinishing and any outside services can all contribute to the total. Those details are more informative than a price detached from the work.
What the inspection established
An exterior inspection cannot show every covered component. Further access or disassembly may be needed to establish the scope and may have a separate charge. A photo review and a complete inspection therefore do not necessarily produce equivalent estimates.
A revised estimate
New findings can add parts or operations, or change a previously proposed method. The revision should explain the reason, updated cost and effect on the repair plan. Added repair work requires customer authorization before it proceeds.
The amount due
For an insurance repair, confirm what the insurer will pay and what remains your responsibility. Discuss payment arrangements with the shop before authorizing the work. Your written estimate provides the price for the proposed repair.
