Before the visit

Describe the vehicle and damage, any claim information and whether transport is needed. For a van, trailer or smaller RV, include dimensions and fitted equipment. Confirm acceptance and an intake time.

Ask what the initial inspection includes, whether further assessment has a charge, and what documents to bring.

Estimate and changes

Review proposed parts, repair operations, refinishing and any outside work. Identify what is known and what still requires inspection.

Agree on the scope before repairs begin. If additional work is proposed, discuss the finding and any change to cost, insurance coverage or timing. California BAR explains estimate and authorization rights in its consumer repair guidance.

Work and completion

Ask about the next confirmed milestone, parts status and the checks required for affected vehicle systems. Establish who will provide updates and how the shop should reach the person approving changes.

Collection

Review the repaired areas, invoice, supplied reports and applicable warranty or paint-care instructions. Ask about any open concern before leaving, and retain the records.
